You must reset your password (even if you know it's the right one) before you can sign into the community. Thanks to the upgrade, there's an issue with passwords and signing in. The good news is that you can click here: http://community.grandparents.com/index.php?/lostpassword/ to change your password (it'll let you reuse your old one). I once saw a facebook post and it was of a tombstone with a DOB and DOD titled something like

"How did you spend your dash"?

I am curious to find out What memories of yourself are you leaving your family and How?

Welcome youngdadofthree! What an interesting question! I'm not sure, though, if you're asking how we want our families to remember us, overall, what kinds of memorable experiences we're sharing with them or what kinds of tangible memories (photographs, etc.) we're leaving them (well, ok, maybe that's the "how" part). Can you clarify?

Meanwhile if that's your active email addy in your username, you may want to change it for greater privacy. If so,  just click on http://www.grandparents.com/profile and change your name where shown. You must sign/log out and then sign/log back in again to make sure the change takes full effect.

If you do this, immediately, it will be obvious, of course. However, generally speaking please always let a moderator or administrator know if you change your name (just click on their name and then Send a Message and go from there. Or mention it in a post.) Thank you. :)

Thank you for the username tip. What I mean by the question is how are others archiving their memories? I know we tell our children stories of who we were, our character, life's events but will that make it past the current generation? How accurate will it be? I have a chest that I keep my athletic memorabilia, college degree and pictures of sorts.

Thanks

Thanks for clarifying, youngdadofthree! The chest sounds like a great idea! I've got an old trunk in my house that used to be a toy chest and I've been thinking of repurposing, somehow. Hope you don't mind if DH (dear husband) and I "borrow" your idea.:)

We also have a number of photo albums, including a few from our childhoods (that our parents had and we kept after they past away). And I've added a few certificates and such to them, as well.

Meanwhile, not to sound sexist, but it's always good, IMO, to have a guy come and join us here. You're not alone - there are some other men on this site - both dads and GFs (grandfathers) - but not that many. Hope you come and talk with us in some of the forums, too.
