Brrr! It's cold! At least where I live. Time to start thinking about winter. Do you find you protect your health more in winter, in the effort to avoid colds and flu etc? Or that you take lesser care of yourself b/c you're more likely to eat warm comfort foods and partake of  such drinks as hot chocolate? Or ??   And, if you will, do you find yourself increasing, decreasing or maintaining exercise schedules and other health routines?

  8. Autumn Babies!

Is your new grandchild coming in the fall? What do you think is best, if anything, about having a baby in this often cooler-but-colorful season? Worst (if anything could be "bad" or "worse" about a new baby's arrival! )? (Please be careful not to give any identifying details, such as full names or exact birth dates).   Also, does anyone have any special tips on what newborns might need specifically for the autumn, if anything?

  10. What's your favorite food or type of meal? And does that change depending on the season?
  11. If you're on low contact w/ your adult DS (dear son) or DD (dear daughter) and family, due to conflict or whatever, is any of that contact likely to occur this coming summer? And will it most probably be in the form of letters, postcards, or emails, etc? Or is it possible that you will see them, at some point, at this/that event or whatever?   Same questions if you're on LC w/ your parents or PILs, or, for that matter, any family member/IL.
  12. I noticed on the cover of one of the magazines my DD gets, that camps are registering kids now for this summer. Are your kids or GC enrolled/going to enroll in camp, this year? Day camp or sleepaway?   If so, what do you see as the benefits for them? And if you are a parent or GP/relative caregiver, how do you expect it will impact your schedule?   If not, what will they be doing, instead? And again, how do you anticipate that affecting your summer?
  13. Where I live, certain flowers and trees have blossomed early. The forsythias that usually bloom in May showed up here in April, for example. Same w/ cherry trees. And now, the azaleas that generally come in June are here in May. So now I'm wondering... What's in your garden? Or around your home? Or in your neighborhood, overall?
  14. Spring Break?

Maybe your kids or GC are on spring break. Or perhaps they were recently - or will be soon... My DGC will have their spring break next week. Their mom will be on break from her school, too, but she'll be working more hours. So I'll be watching them less time, overall, but my schedule will shift. How about you? If you're a GP, does spring break mean you see/watch your GC more often? Or less b/c the parents are have some days off, too? If you're a parent, does it mean arranging (additional) childcare? And if so, do you turn to a GP/relative or professional childcare? Or hey, if you have teenagers, are they ok on their own?
  15. Do you throw pink and blue pillows on your livingroom couch in the spring and red-and-green ones around Christmastime? Or place poinsietta on your kitchen or diningroom table in the winter but roses in the summer? Or maybe you have bunny and chick figurines on your shelves around Eastertime, while you favor pumpkin and scarecrow ones come Halloween? In short do you change the decor in your home - and/or your office, if any - in keeping w/ the seasons and/or holidays? Or does it stay the same year-round?
  16. What's your favorite spring sport, if any - soccer, tennis, lacrosse, baseball, softball, something else? Does your kid/GK/relative child play one or more of them?
  17. As I understand it, neither of the famous groundhogs saw their shadows this year - so that means an early spring. What do you think - is it true? Have you begun to see signs of spring where you live?
  18. What are you most looking forward to, this spring? Least?
  19. Here comes Easter!

Looks like Easter is just around the corner! So saying Happy Easter! And wishing everyone all the joys of spring! (Since Easter and Passover seem to be spread very far apart on the calendar this year, I'm saving my Passover greetings till next month.) Enjoy!
  20. Do you have any winter hobbies?

Do you enjoy any hobbies/sports that are associated w/ winter - skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, ice fishing, etc?
  21. Mild Winter - A Plus or a Minus?

As I said, elsewhere, I keep hearing this is going to be a very mild winter. A part of me is glad, if that's true, b/c that means warmer temperatures and fewer/no worries about black ice or my car getting stuck in snow, etc. I recall almost getting into a big accident a couple of years ago, due to black ice. Yikes!   But OTOH, a part of me feels bad b/c I love when my DGC get to play in the snow, making angels or building a snowman, etc. And, right now, the temps in my area are unseasonably high. We had a few cold days, but, for the most part, the weather has been way warmer than I've ever known it to be in December. It's nice - and yet... well... it feels weird...   Thoughts?
  22. Wow! We've been doing these weekly questions for a whole year! I admit, I wasn't sure how this would work out, at first. But, fortunately, there always seems to be something else to ask.   And this week the question is... How's the weather where you live? Or are there any signs of autumn? In short, does it feel like fall yet?
  23. In the August Question of the Month we're talking about what we'll miss most when summer is gone. But now I'm wondering, what are you looking forward to the most this autumn? Cooler weather? Colorful foliage? Getting back to your fall routines? A specific event? Or ??
  24. Fall Health Routines

Do your health routines, if any, change in autumn? Do you eat differently? Do different activities for exercise? Or ??
  25. What will you miss most about (this) summer, as it draws to a close?
