PLEASE READ: We are moving the community   02/15/18

Dear Community friends and family,   After great consideration, we are moving the Grandparents.com community to Facebook Groups effective March 15, 2018.   This wasn’t an easy decision, but we want to bring our communities together and believe the best place to do so is through Facebook’s groups feature. We’re so appreciative of you and the diverse conversations and opinions you have provided over the past 9 years. Your stories and amazing advice have helped so many readers, and have reached thousands of GP.com users. We encourage you to retrieve any information you want to retain as the forum will only be accessible by the admin after March 15, 2018. We’ve created a closed Facebook group called Mothers-in-Law Unplugged where we welcome you to continue the conversations around grandparenting, family, and in-law relationships, and any general topics we discuss here. As the group is closed and each user must be approved, your friends and family on Facebook won’t see any of your activity. Request to join the group here: http://bit.ly/milunplugged Thank you to all of our past and current users. You helped build our community, and we look forward to continuing to interact with you in the Facebook groups. If you have any questions about the groups and privacy, let’s chat about here:   Sincerely,   The Grandparents.com Team

Birthday Desserts

12 posts in this topic

I had dinner yesterday with DD & family (plus her amazingly loud, but very nice) ILs as a prequel to celebrating DDs upcoming milestone birthday. I brought dessert...Carrot cake with cream cheese frosting in a bundt pan & peach cobbler.

#1GB cut himself a slice of cake nearly as big as his head and proceeded to eat it all. He's a flyweight, so no clue where he put it.

The left over cobbler made a yummy breakfast this morning

Two of my favorite desserts of all times.  Peach cobbler goes with summer and BBQ IMHO.

My husband requested pineapple upside down cake for his birthday so that's what I made him- I've been in the mood for cheesecake -- cheesecake with a pecan crust-

When I make my pineapple upside down cake I use the juice from the pineapples in place of the water in the cake mix. Big hit with my boyfriend.

DH is big on tropical fruit pie. Prefers that over cake for his bday.

We love basalmic strawberries over just about anything!  Angel food cake, pound cake, ice cream.

Speaking of ice cream, bananas foster is a big hit w/ my family for birthdays (w/ or in addition to cake) or any occasion! :)

DH was a fan of Boston Creme Pie....he usually asked for that or Carrot Cake with inch thick cream cheese frosting...

My birthday is coming soon and I'm hosting my own party, DD will make the cupcakes, Boston Creme, Carrot, German Chocolate & Lemon Meringue...I'm not a fan of store bought cakes...
