PLEASE READ: We are moving the community   02/15/18

Dear Community friends and family,   After great consideration, we are moving the Grandparents.com community to Facebook Groups effective March 15, 2018.   This wasn’t an easy decision, but we want to bring our communities together and believe the best place to do so is through Facebook’s groups feature. We’re so appreciative of you and the diverse conversations and opinions you have provided over the past 9 years. Your stories and amazing advice have helped so many readers, and have reached thousands of GP.com users. We encourage you to retrieve any information you want to retain as the forum will only be accessible by the admin after March 15, 2018. We’ve created a closed Facebook group called Mothers-in-Law Unplugged where we welcome you to continue the conversations around grandparenting, family, and in-law relationships, and any general topics we discuss here. As the group is closed and each user must be approved, your friends and family on Facebook won’t see any of your activity. Request to join the group here: http://bit.ly/milunplugged Thank you to all of our past and current users. You helped build our community, and we look forward to continuing to interact with you in the Facebook groups. If you have any questions about the groups and privacy, let’s chat about here:   Sincerely,   The Grandparents.com Team

Flea markets, anyone? (Question of the Month, August 2017)

Do/did you ever buy/sell items at a flea market? And, if you will, did you ever make a "really great find" at one of them?

OMG, DH was the king of flea market finds...He was a collector of odd things so loved the large flea markets & antique fairs. I found several of my rocking chairs at both...

I think there's nothing at all that I need until I hit the swap meet .. and as a result, I no longer go- I hit the thrift stores instead- My recent find was a red picnic basket similar to the one below -- also found another similar one that's forest green ..

I went to a flea market once in Santa Fe.  I wasn't impressed and have never gone again.  I don't do garage sales either.

I used to love going to garage sales and auctions to find all the great treasures. I did find many valuables things that I would pay like a dime for and then sell on Ebay for over a $100 dollars for it was a lot of fun. Now that I take care of my grandchildren full time, don't have the energy. I am also getting rid of anything I don't really need because the grand kids have taken over the house lol!

So many different POVs in just a few posts! Thanks, ladies!

As for me, I guess I'm in the middle. I've been to flea markets a few times - went  for fun w/ my DDs to one that was near us when they were kids - and found a few nice things for good prices. But I'm not a "flea market buff" overall.

@ All -  Anyone else?
