PLEASE READ: We are moving the community   02/15/18

Dear Community friends and family,   After great consideration, we are moving the Grandparents.com community to Facebook Groups effective March 15, 2018.   This wasn’t an easy decision, but we want to bring our communities together and believe the best place to do so is through Facebook’s groups feature. We’re so appreciative of you and the diverse conversations and opinions you have provided over the past 9 years. Your stories and amazing advice have helped so many readers, and have reached thousands of GP.com users. We encourage you to retrieve any information you want to retain as the forum will only be accessible by the admin after March 15, 2018. We’ve created a closed Facebook group called Mothers-in-Law Unplugged where we welcome you to continue the conversations around grandparenting, family, and in-law relationships, and any general topics we discuss here. As the group is closed and each user must be approved, your friends and family on Facebook won’t see any of your activity. Request to join the group here: http://bit.ly/milunplugged Thank you to all of our past and current users. You helped build our community, and we look forward to continuing to interact with you in the Facebook groups. If you have any questions about the groups and privacy, let’s chat about here:   Sincerely,   The Grandparents.com Team

Do you DRINK healthy?

4 posts in this topic

So often people talk about what they eat/don't eat to stay healthy. But do you believe beverages factor in, if at all?

GP.com  recently touched on this question on FB page. They're featuring the following article on their FB page, advising us to drink lemon water:

http://www.grandparents.com/health-and-wellbeing/health/benefits-drinking-lemon-water

So now I'm wondering, do you include/exclude any drinks/types of drinks in your diet in the interest of health? And hey, while we're on the subject, is lemon water one of your beverages of choice - or, if you've read the linked article, will it be now?

Water, plain ol' water....one cup of coffee per day....unsweetened iced tea. Very rarely soda (never diet soda!). And I rarely drink alcohol.

Lemon water gives me acid reflux, so no I do not drink it.  I drink bottled water because chlorine bothers me also.  I don't drink diet soda, nor do I keep soda in the house as a general rule but I might buy a small fountain one if I go to town.  I drink tea both hot and cold but not coffee.  I love fruit juices, but I limit my intake due to empty calories, I'd rather eat the whole fruit for the fiber.

I generally don't drink pop but I do drink juices quite often, which have loads of sugar. I've been trying to cut back on sugary drinks, so I dilute my juices with 50% water. Also, I try to limit the amount of coffee I drink because it raises my anxiety and throws of my natural digestive flow.
