What to do if you get a "Wrong Password" message   01/21/16

You must reset your password (even if you know it's the right one) before you can sign into the community. Thanks to the upgrade, there's an issue with passwords and signing in. The good news is that you can click here: http://community.grandparents.com/index.php?/lostpassword/ to change your password (it'll let you reuse your old one). If you can't reach the email address connected to your account then please contact the admin at latoya@grandparents.com and I'll help you sort it out.

The holidays & the grandparent caregiver

5 posts in this topic

Here comes December - a month full of holidays - Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Boxing Day (in the UK, Canada and other Commonwealth countries), and New Year's Eve!

@ GPs - Will you be w/ the GC you take care of on Christmas or any of the December holidays? And/or will you be doing any babysitting on New Year's Eve, while the parents go out, or during their vacation?

Or if you're raising your grands, are either of their parents expected to see them during the holidays?

Same questions for other relative caregivers.

@ Parents - Will your kids see the GPs/relatives that watch them (if any) during the holidays? Or will those GPs/relatives be watching your kids on New Year's Eve or during any part of the school vacation?

Well, our Christmas Eve has been moved from my house to Ds/Dil...Dil is a director of a children's program at a large church so has to work until mid afternoon...her other option was working Christmas Eve evening...we'll adapt. If we party at her house she can be home in 10 minutes, if it's at mine there would be at least a 45 min drive without traffic...The rest of us will gather, the kids can play together until dinner and the adults can visit...niece with her baby will be there...and I have seen niece in over a year...

Totally win-win...takes the pressure off of me continuing with "My Plan" to get the house in shape...

Kudos to you for being flexible about this, Mame! And for recognizing the benefit to you! :)

Saw my granddolls on Xmas Eve (at ODD's and SIL's house) and Xmas Day (at their/YDD's house), as mentioned elsewhere. Also had them over for a couple of days around the New Year, but my DDs & SIL took them out one afternoon to see the latest Star Wars movie one afternoon. (They loved it! SIL & DGD are especially big fans!) Watched the kids a couple hours, here & there other days, also. But mostly, they were busy w/ their mom, play dates, scouting events, etc. Enjoyed the extra time and glad they were having fun/getting in more time w/ Mom. But missed my routine, after a while - and my DGC's sweet faces (extra "free time" always a mixed bag for me). :)

Unpinning this now since the holiday is past. But please feel free to continue the conversation, as long as this thread remains under 3 months old...

I saw 8 out of 9 GK Christmas Eve...(one was sick with a stomach thing, so wasn't able to come..)...and I had #1GB for an overnighter so his parents could go on an excursion to Napa on a party bus for a friend's birthday day...he & I went to the seed bank to plan this year's gardens...and I had the grandpup for a week...that's plenty for me...

I have plans to see the others throughout the month.
